Rafting
Wild mountain river, stunning views, and a skilled guide by your side!
Rafting along the Tara River in Montenegro is an exhilarating journey through Europe’s deepest canyon, often called the “Tear of Europe” for its crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs, lush forests, and untouched nature, paddlers navigate turquoise rapids that range from gentle flows to thrilling whitewater. The experience combines adventure with breathtaking scenery, offering a unique way to explore the wild beauty of Durmitor National Park and the UNESCO-protected Tara Canyon.
Guided Rafting tours along the tara river
Up for fast water and big scenery? The Tara delivers. Push off beneath high cliffs, ride clear, turquoise rapids, and drift through quiet pools where the forest leans over the water. Licensed skippers handle the lines and keep the pace right—playful in summer, punchier in spring when the river runs higher—so first-timers and thrill-seekers both get their moment. Wetsuits, helmets, and life vests are provided; you just bring quick-dry layers and a sense of adventure. Most trips run the classic lower stretch of the canyon, close enough to Hotel Ravnjak for an easy start and a hot drink back at the end.
The rafting tours range from 1 to 3 days. The most common in midsummer is the 18 km descent that takes place in Durmitor National Park, leaving from Brstanovica, trailing under The Great Bridge (Durdevica Tara) and ending in Scepan Polje. The longer trips may be arranged on request.
